June 2008 Whalebags wins theBizIdea Competition!

Whalebags is the proud winner of theBizIdea 2008 Competition. Now in its seventh year, theBizIdea run by University West of England and sponsored by several businesses in the West has announced it 2007-08 winners. Whalebags won the Best Business Idea Category and is extremely excited about taking up the ‘Incubator’ office space in the Watershed in September.

9th -15th June 08 SAVE THE WHALE WEEK

Whalebags is supporting the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society to try to bring awareness to these marvellous creatures. Help us save the whales; for more information go to www.savethewhale.org.uk.

12th April 08 PLASTIC BAG AMNESTY DAY

A very successful ‘Plastic Bag Amnesty Day’ was held in Bristol city centre, opposite the Hippodrome on the 12th April 08. The Whalebags team was there all day, battling the wind and collecting plastic bags from the ‘green’ people of Bristol. Thank you to all those people who brought their plastic bags and thank you for the hundreds of pledges we received. Let’s hope people keep their promises to reduce the number of plastic bags they use.

What happened to the plastic bags?
All the plastic bags were taken away for recycling by EWS UK, a local recycling/waste management company based in Longwell Green. Whalebags wants to say a big thank you to EWS for your support.
